I have one more Mileage Run to do this year. It is for Delta (I had enough miles for Platinum but was just short of the dollar spend). I found a fairly inexpensive R/T to JFK from my home airport (SEA). The good news is that since this is a flight during the slower period between Christmas and New Years, I have confirmed upgrades to Business both ways. The ticket cost under $525 so it met my main requirement to get the minimum spend addressed. My other requirement is that it is a quick turn-around flight so I don't have to use a hotel room.
As I enter into 2016, I will have Platinum on both Delta and American. With American moving to a revenue based system at the mid year point thus making it cousin to Delta's revenue approach, I need to decide what airline I will concentrate my business travel with. My two things that I will focus on:
- How I can leverage the miles toward international first/business class travel for my family.
- Getting as many upgrades for business flights as possible to make my business travel as comfortable as possible.
I am thinking that I will front load my American miles since the revenue based system won't kick in until the middle of the year. I have historically tried to maintain elite status with two different airlines so that I can meet the lower cost spend requirements that are imposed by employment requirements.
Feel free to chime in with comments on what you think I should do re elite status in 2016!
